I have returned from Fanime 2008! This was my first time at Fanime, and I must say, I was a fantastic year to make a first.
Sarah and I held a Japanese pop/rock Party panel, which was a huge success. She had brought Japanese snacks and drinks for the attendees and everyone fully enjoyed that. During the panel, we shared videos from Acid Black Cherry, Matsumoto Kazuyuki, An Cafe, Greeeen, and Fuji Takashi. Everyone cheered for us at the end!
An Cafe held a live on Sunday, May 25. There will be photos and a live report from that soon, so for those who couldn’t attend, or who attended and just want to see photos, please keep an eye out for that. It was definitely a very memorable event! They had also held an autograph session the morning of Monday, May 26, and held a fan Q&A panel the same afternoon (see above photo).
Speaking of An Cafe, there were so many adorable Cafekko at the convention. There were even a couple of girls there that came all the way from China just to see An Cafe!! Luckily, I was able to get a few snapshots of some Cafekko to share, just as soon as I spruce them up a bit. Sarah was even brilliant enough to think about interviewing and getting comments from Jrock fans and cosplayers on video. As soon as the videos are finished being edited, we will be sure to share that.
Anyway, that’s about it! Fanime 2008 wasn’t a very large convention, but it sure was a lot of fun and had some great Jrock coverage this year. I hope that I can attend it next year.
